School Liaisons at Other Installations

The School Liaison for MCLB Albany is here to:

  • Assist parents of school-aged children K-12 on educational matters relating to public, private, and home schooling.
  • Help parents to understand information necessary for children to succeed in an academic environment.
  • Serve as the central point of contact between parents, the military commander, and the Department of Education to promote and improve education policies, services, and partnerships with local schools.
  • Assist parents in locating points of contacts in the schools.
  • Make appropriate referrals, as necessary.

Mission of the School Liaison

The mission of the School Liaison is to mobilize and use community resources to reduce the impact of the mobile military life style on military school-age children and families; to implement predictable support services that assist school-age children with relocations, life transitions and achieving academic success.

The School Liaison mission supports the Personnel and Family Readiness mission by:

  • Mobilizing and using community resources to reduce the impact of the mobile military lifestyle on military school-age.
  • Providing a wide range of resources to parents, students, schools, commanders and communities that facilitate school transitions and relationships.

Goals of the School Liaison

  • Identify barriers to the academic success and smooth transition of Marine school-age children and develop solutions to barriers.
  • Promote parent and community involvement in youth education.
  • Provide Marine parents the tools to overcome obstacles to academic success that children, encounter as a result of the military lifestyle.
  • Educate local schools and communities about the needs of military school-age children and the military lifestyle.
